WINGER Dan Demkiv has signed for Salisbury FC straight from the Southampton Academy in a deal manager Steve Claridge believes will prove a real coup for the club.

It was part of a double deal sealed this week with talented Salisbury player Brandon Mundy also signing as the Whites squad takes shape.

Steve snapped up 18-year-old left winger Dan, who has also been playing as a striker for Southampton’s youth team, to beat off interest from a host of clubs in the area and believes Whites have a huge asset.

“Dan is quick and skilful and we welcome him to the club,” said Claridge.

“He is a talent and I think he is only going to get better in the group we are assembling.”

Claridge is also delighted to have recruited Mundy, a central midfield player, who was playing in the Southern League Premier Division for Frome Town last season and was previously in the Forest Green academy.

“He is a catch,” said Steve. “He passes the ball well and works hard, just what we need.”

The pair brings to four the number of confirmed signings, to add to midfielder Sam Roberts and striker Lamar Powell made last month.

And the manager is close to confirming deals for another seven players in the next week, with terms being offered and the players close to putting pen to paper.
