BOTH FA Vase semi-finals hang in the balance after Hereford beat Salisbury and Bowers and Pitsea shared the spoils with Bowers and Pitsea in Saturday's first legs.

At Edgar Street, Mustapha Bundu popped up with the goods four minutes into the second period to give the Bulls a slender one-goal advantage heading into the second leg at the Ray Mac.

Come the hour mark, the hosts rattled the woodwork three times in as many minutes through Ross Staley and Bundu.

Whites had their chances to equalise through Steve Walker and Kane O'Keefe but departed Herefordshire empty-handed - not scoring for the first time in 31 weeks.

Some 200 miles away in Essex, Bowers and Pitsea clawed back a two-goal deficit at home to Morpeth Town.

The North East outfit stormed into a ten-minute lead through a memorable strike from Sean Taylor.

Pethers was caught out in the 33rd minute after a long ball over the top by Morpeth found Taylor. His shot was well saved, but Michael Chilton tucked away the rebound to double Morpeth’s advantage going into half-time.

Morpeth almost put the tie out of sight in the 68th minute when Sayer’s effort was cleared off the line by Bowers defender Aaron Waters.

That proved to be a pivotal moment as Bowers went straight up the other end and pulled a goal back through Lewis Manor, who bundled the ball home following a goalmouth scramble.

And in the 89th minute, Alfie Hilton poked home a scuffed effort to earn a 2-2 draw ahead of Saturday's five-hour journey to Morpeth.
