AN acting chief executive has been appointed at the Ray Mac — initially the end of the season.

Amanda Newbery, who had been an advisor to the board of Salisbury FC, will assume day-to-day responsibility for running the club.

The co-owner of The Chapel nightclub will be a familiar face to many Whites fans having been Stadium Manager in the days of Salisbury City.

The move came as the board sought extra help behind the scenes after the strain of recent bumper matchday crowds — including the record breaking attendance against Hereford.

The role is initially for the next six weeks until the end of the season but the club could make the move permanent if agreed by both parties.

"Amanda is an exceptionally capable individual who has a wealth of experience of the club," said Chairman Dave Phillips. "We are delighted that she has agreed to take on this role."

Amanda added: "I've always done my best to help the club in any way I could. I see this as an extension of my role in helping to progress the club and get it back to where we all want it."
