SALISBURY boss Steve Claridge says his side is feeling no pressure in the hunt for the Wessex Premier Division.

The Whites went seven points clear with three games in hand after beating Bemerton Heath on Monday.

Seven wins from their last 12 games would guarantee the title and promotion to the Southern League.

Claridge said: “I think it is a case of getting through them. Let’s get the games won, let’s get out of it.

“It is not easy; every game is going to be a bit of an anti-climax after the highs of the Vase run.

“I think we know we are good enough to win enough games to win the league. Now everybody between here and the end of the season has a chance to stake their claim for next year.

“[This season] we have been comfortable as it has always been in our hands. The only pressure was Hereford and that was a game where we couldn’t do what we needed to do.

“Everyone is playing for their future, that is how a football club is. The club is going to keep moving on and forward. Some will stay and some will go but a lot will be proven between here and the rest of the season.”

  •  Jack Vallis has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a hairline fracture of his left ankle in the 4-1 win at Alresford.

He scored the opening goal in the game before the injury and damaged ligaments and tendons as a result of a block tackle.

“It’s unfortunate for Jack as he was doing well and he could have expected a run of games now, with games coming thick and fast,” Steve Claridge said. “We wish him well in his rehab.”

Vallis joins fellow defender Calum Brockway on the sidelines for the rest of the season.
