A FOOTBALL tournament is being hosted at the Ray Mac.

Salisbury FC Youth has arranged their annual tournament, in conjunction with the parent club, for mixed and boys teams from under 7/8s (combined) to the under 16s.

It will be five-a-side for the under-7s and 8s while every other age group will partake in six-a-side rules.

The competition on May 14 and 15 will feature qualified referees and there will be four pitches, the sizes varying between younger and older age groups.

There will also be other activities and stalls for children and parents to enjoy between games, as well as refreshments available all day.

On the Saturday evening, there will also be two adult tournaments, one for men and one for women, with the finals being played under floodlights.

"It's great to be back under the auspices of the new club after missing last year," said organiser Mark Winter of Salisbury Youth FC.

"This gives all children from south Wiltshire and further afield a chance to experience what it is like to play in a stadium. When the youth ran the last tournament here back in 2014 it was a tremendous experience for the children. We are sure this one will be even better and we urge as many teams as possible to come along and give their young players this exciting opportunity.

"All proceeds from the tournament will be going straight back into youth development at the club, to further build a structured pathway for local children to develop their potential and stay in the game beyond school age."

Entry is £25 per team before May 1, after this date it will be £30.

Programme and car parking on site will be £2.
