THE younger brother of Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is among a trio of loan signings snapped up by Salisbury.

Midfielder Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain moves to the Ray Mac from Portsmouth alongside Southampton goalkeeper Will Britt - a replacement for outgoing Charlie Searle - and Newport County defender Kieran Parselle.

All three players are eligible for Whites' Southern League Division One South and West curtain-raiser tomorrow at home to Evesham United (3pm).

Boss Steve Claridge said: "We've got those three players but there's still a lot of work to do and we still need some wide players."

"We're not where we want to be and it will probably take at least another month before we get there. Things aren't going to happen overnight."

Portsmouth-born Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain came through his hometown club's youth ranks.

It was there he signed a two-year scholarship in 2014 and played for Pompey Academy, managed by ex-Salisbury City boss Mikey Harris.

And the 18-year-old did enough to earn himself a one-year pro contract in April this year.

But despite being involved in Pompey's pre-season preparations he has been unable to break into the first team - so was sent on a month's loan with the Sydenhams Wessex League champions.

"I spoke to Mikey Harris, who was here a few years ago, and he said for the amount of fans they get it's not a bad place to come and develop as a young player and I couldn't turn it down," said Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose father, Mark, represented Portsmouth and England in the 80s and 90s.

"Obviously, I wanted to try and solidify a spot there [Pompey] but it wasn't to be so I've come here to prove myself and hopefully go back and try and get in the first team.

"Paul Cook said go and make sure you are in the first XI every week, work hard, do well and we'll re-evaluate things."

Looking to get a regular place in Claridge's team is 6ft 2in keeper Britt, who won the FA Youth Cup with Norwich City in 2013.

The Gibraltarian international provides cover for Searle, who was recalled by Havant and Waterlooville last week and signed a two-year deal.

And defensive Welshman Parselle, 19, came through the ranks at Newport before signing a professional contract in May 2015. His manager Warren Feeney was assistant to Harris at Salisbury in the 2013/14 season.
