SALISBURY will enter their Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round clash at home to Gloucester City as "real underdogs", according to boss Steve Claridge.

The National North outfit will travel to the Ray Mac on Saturday, September 17 (3pm), after the draw was made at Wembley headquarters earlier today.

It will be the Tigers' first game in the competition as National North/South clubs enter at this stage.

Managed by well-known figure Tim Harris, Gloucester are two divisions above Whites, and are currently ninth in the league table following a 2-2 draw with AFC Fylde on Saturday.

"I was looking for the complete opposite - a game against a lower ranked team as I want us to stay in the Cup as long as possible. We've beaten a side from the Southern Premier but stepping up again to Conference North will be a different proposition altogether," said Claridge.

"People have to remember that Salisbury FC may potentially be a big club capable of getting great gates as on Saturday against Frome but we are still just a Southern League South and West side. We are real underdogs here.

"Having said all that, we are at home and I know our boys will love testing themselves against players like these. These are the sort of games and opposition we want to be playing more regularly in the future.

"If we can get an atmosphere like we did on Saturday, and get more than 1,000 in the Ray Mac fired up, then Gloucester will know they've been in a game."

The tie is just reward for Whites, who saw off higher league opposition in Saturday's first qualifying round, sealing a hard-fought 2-0 win over Frome Town.

Goals from Tommy Wright and Steve Walker put the hosts in a comfortable position until keeper Nathan Ball was sent off with 30 minutes remaining.

With no replacement available, skipper Kane O'Keefe donned the gloves and preserved a clean sheet in a cracking tie, which attracted the biggest crowd of the round, with 832 at the Ray Mac.

The winner will receive £4,500 in prize money and advance into the third qualifying round.
