AMANDA Newbery has resigned from her post as acting chief executive at Salisbury FC.

Newbery leaves her role at the Ray Mac nine months after being appointed, having previously been advising the board on matters since the club reformed.

The co-owner of the Chapel nightclub has been responsible for the day-to-day responsibility of running the club and her last game in charge was against Shortwood United earlier this month.

She explained: “I first worked with the football club for the old club when Nick Holmes was in charge, he was a great manager. He did things the way they should be done, properly."

“It has been nice to return and work with the new team, in my time we’ve achieved a lot of success and created some lasting memories.

“I am a committed fan and will continue to help where I can.

"However, I have a new business due to launch and my time and focus is needed for this.”

Chairman David Phillips has thanked Newbery for her work at the club.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Amanda for everything she has done for the club. She has helped us in so many areas and she will be missed," he said.

"However, thanks to her input, the staff, both paid employees and volunteers, are in place to ensure the continued smooth running of SFC.

"She now needs to concentrate on her new business and we wish her every success in this.”

The lease at the Ray Mac expires in May 2017 and Phillip says he is currently under negotiations with the trustees of being granted an extension.

He added: "Amanda and I have been working together closely regarding the issue of the stadium and I am pleased to confirm that she will continue to work with me until we have a resolution."
