MASON Walsh is in pursuit of climbing up the football ranks after leaving Salisbury.

The winger, who is the son of football legend Paul Walsh, announced his sudden departure on Tuesday following a job offer north of the country and is relocating.

The 21-year-old joined Whites in November on a non-contract basis, making seven starts and two substitute appearances.

His last game was on Saturday during Salisbury's 4-0 hammering over Yate Town in which he assisted Tom Whelan's goal.

"I've got opportunities for football at a higher level up north and a job there for me, so it's a new challenge I'm looking forward to," said Walsh.

"I haven't signed for anyone yet. I enjoyed my time at Salisbury, it was good to get some game time under my belt. I met a great group of lads and I'm looking forward to following their push for promotion.

"Also thanks to Micky Jenkins [assistant manager], he has been brilliant with me since I joined."

Walsh became the second player to leave Salisbury in the space of four days, as defender Kieran Parselle finished his six-month loan spell on Saturday and has now returned to parent club Newport County.
