A DESTRUCTIVE Salisbury registered their biggest league win of the season as they ran riot over already-relegated Bridgwater Town with a 7-0 victory.

A hat-trick from Tommy Wright, Eddie Perrett’s brace and strikes from Lewis Benson and Tom Whelan ensured Whites reclaimed fourth spot in Southern League Division One South and West on Tuesday night.

Whites eased into a 2-0 lead with a quickfire double within 17 minutes. Wright drilled home from close-range before Benson’s curling effort deflected in off the post.

Those goals came after Tyne Govier, sporting a haircut similar to Chelsea star David Luiz, delivered a free kick to the far post which was met by Jordan Lovibond, who rocked the woodwork.

Salisbury added a third seven minutes before the restart when a fizzing cross on the right was tucked home by Perrett, who was playing as a striker wearing injured Justin Bennett’s number 10 shirt.

The rock-bottom visitors became even more stretched after the break and conceded four goals in 25 minutes.

Perrett won his side a penalty on 68 minutes which Wright dispatched for his 40th goal in all competitions before a thunderous half volley from Whelan arrowed into the bottom corner.

Perrett then added his second after finishing off an intricate passage of passes for a sixth goal.

And with the scoreline confirmed, Wright completed his hat-trick with a header at the far post deep into stoppage time.

That goal was the 100th goal Bridgwater, who parted company with their manager Phil Hucker in the build-up to the game, conceded this term.
