SALISBURY FC boss Steve Claridge says his side “don’t get an ounce of luck”, following the 2-0 defeat to Swindon Supermarine, which saw a “perfectly legitimate goal” disallowed and Marvin Brooks sent off for an alleged stamp.

Claridge said if the disallowed goal was given, his side would have been hard to break down, and Swindon would have had to chase the game.

The two key incidents in the game both came before half time with the disallowed goal on 35 minutes and the sending off in the first minute of injury time in the first half.

The Whites created plenty of opportunities before this and Claridge said: “We have had 3 or 4 great chances in the first half.

“Then a perfectly legitimate goal disallowed.

“It just didn’t happen for us, because we don’t get an ounce of luck.”

After the game Claridge reviewed video footage of the ruled out goal and could not understand why it was disallowed.

Claridge also said it was hard to speak about the match as a football game, because the incidents changed the game: “How do I judge that game, I just can’t find a way.

“[The referee] disallows a goal which is a big decision and gives a sending off which is debatable and that’s the game in a nutshell

“Then the sending off kills the whole game.”

The Whites boss was also unimpressed with the performance of his goalkeeper Charlie Searle and said: “The keeper has cost us tonight, full stop, he gets done from 30 yards near post, sorry that doesn’t happen, its happening too many times with Charlie.

“If we don’t concede that we get a 0-0 and we say thank you very much as we have gained a point over Taunton, its not good enough.”

The Whites are now fourth in the league, following the loss to Swindon Supermarine on 16 points with five wins from there opening eight league games, and are now three points off first placed Bristol Manor Farm.

Salisbury’s next league game is against Bishops Cleeve, who are currently bottom of the table and are without a win from their opening seven league games, on Saturday.
