SALISBURY FC's poor performance against Bishops Cleeve earned them their first point of the season.

The Gloucestershire side who had lost all seven previous games so far this season, looked well organised against an underperforming Salisbury.

The Whites have now moved down to fifth in the league, following the 0-0 draw at the Ray Mac on Saturday.

Aaron Dawson made his debut for the Whites following his midweek move from Gosport Borough, and put in a solid performance being making way for Claudio Herbert in the second half.

Salisbury could have taken an early lead in the second minute of the game, but Marvin Brooks' header was cleared.

The remainder of the first half there were no chances made by either side.

The Whites did start the better in the second half, and should have been awarded a penalty just two minutes in the half.

Midfielder Tom Whelan was bundled over in the box, but the referee awarded a free-kick to Bishops Cleeve and booked Whelan for a supposed dive, he will now miss the next league game, with this having been his fifth booking of the season.

The away side then nearly took the lead on 58 minutes, Rhys Baggridge headed back to keeper Charlie Searle who missed it, but the ball didn't quite reach the net and the score remained 0-0.

The Whites then almost went ahead in the 70th minute, substitute Stuart Green was played through on goal squared the ball to Brooks but his shot was sliced wide.

Salisbury then continued to have a handful of chances, first Lewis Benson saw his free-kick comfortably saved.

Then with just three minutes of normal time remaining, Whelan fired a shot from outside the area, but the Bishops Cleeve keeper managed to get a hand to it and tip it wide, with the game then ending 0-0.

Salisbury now face a trip to Southern Premier Dorchester Town on Monday, October 2 (7.45pm) in the League Cup, followed by the visit of Paulton Rovers in the FA Trophy.
