SALISBURY are hoping to entice some Saints and Cherries fans to the Ray Mac on Saturday to celebrate Non-League Day.

The Whites have announced three special initiatives for their FA Trophy preliminary round tie at home to Paulton Rovers (3pm).

The Wiltshire club are keen to reward existing fans and hopefully tempt some new ones in on an afternoon when both Southampton and AFC Bournemouth are out of action because of the international weekend.

Salisbury are offering fans free car parking, a half-price matchday programme for just £1 and a £50 cash prize for the lucky programme winner to be drawn at half-time.

Boss Steve Claridge, who started out in non-League football with Fareham Town before building a professional career, said: “Non-League Day is always a big deal. It’s great for the game at this level to have a bit of a spotlight when there are no Premier League or Championship games on.

“We wanted to reward our loyal supporters with a bit of an offer and maybe encourage fans of Southampton or Bournemouth to give us a go and see what a smashing experience Non-League football can be for all the family.

"We couldn't discount admission prices as we have to share the revenue with Paulton, but we hope free car parking and a deal on the match programme goes some way to saying thank you to regulars and attracts a few new fans."

Gates open at 1.30pm, along with the Sarum Suite bar. Admission prices are £9 adults, £6 senior citizens and students, £2 5-16 year-olds and under-5s free.

Salisbury have already enjoyed knockout success this week, winning 2-1 at Dorchester Town in the BigFreeBet.com Challenge Cup – Marvin Brooks and Lewis Benson on target.
