LAVERSTOCK and Ford endured a horror afternoon on Saturday, losing without reply to lowly East Cowes Victoria.

Nothing went right for the home side and it was the visitors who started brightest, a clumsy foul by Olly Hoare in the box saw the resulted spot kick saved by Baxter but minutes later an East Cowes free kick managed to pierce a wall for the lead on 22 minutes.

Laverstock had four great chances to score but the visiting keeper was in majestic form and kept the score to 0-1.

The second half, saw Lavvy start brighter and instantly create several half chances.

But against the run of play East Cowes doubled their lead.

The goal seemed to stop Laverstock in their tracks and from that moment onwards looked vulnerable, a further two goals were added to ensure a miserable afternoon for Laverstock.

Co-managers Liam McConnell and Rob Lakeman told JournalSport following the result: “We never got going it’s quite simple. The lads know it.

“There’s no hiding place in this side, we have to take it on the chin and show character as a group and come back stronger.”

Laverstock still remain top of the Sydenhams Division One, and are next back in action at home against United Services Portsmouth on Saturday, November 11.
