SALISBURY failed to score for the first time all season as they were knocked out of the Southern League Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.

Steve Claridge's men were thumped 4-0 by Hayes and Yeading in the semi-final at Holloways Park.

The hosts exerted their Southern Premier League authority on 18 minutes when Anthony Edgar beat the offside trap and took his time before tucking home at the near post.

Edgar then turned assist seven minutes after the break with a smart through ball to Soloman Sambou who tucked his shot into the far corner.

And three minutes later, Hayes grabbed a third as Graeme Montgomery unleashed a rasping drive which crashed in off the underside of the crossbar.

Hayes weren't finished and Mahlondo Martin, who was with the Whites earlier in the season, crossed low into the area and Salisbury substitute Adam Flint got the final touch.

Hayes will play the winner of Tuesday's other semi-final which involves St Ives Town and Aylesbury United.

The defeat ended Salisbury's winning run of nine games in a row in all competitions.

They look to bounce back with Saturday's league trip to Barnstaple Town (3pm).
