SALISBURY FC marched into the final of the Salisbury Hospital Cup after romping to a 6-1 win over defending champions Amesbury Town.

Goals from Claudio Herbert, George Colson and braces from Jesse Waller-Lassen and Franklyn Clarke were enough for the Whites to knock out the Sydenhams Wessex Premier outfit.

Their reward is a tie with the winner of Shrewton United/Bemerton Heath Harlequins, who play later this month, at the Ray Mac on Wednesday, May 10 (7.45pm).

The first goal came in the 33rd minute, Waller-Lassen delivered a great ball into the box from a free kick on the right and Herbert was there to head in and give them the lead.

Just five minutes later it was 2-0, Clarke was played through in on goal and easily slotted past Michael Weatherhall in the Amesbury goal.

Town got the first goal of the second half, Kieran Stephens with a fantastic finish into the bottom right corner from the left hand side.

But Salisbury restored their two-goal lead minutes later, Amesbury’s Connor Palmer lost the ball and Waller-Lassen pounced and finished well to get his first of the game.

Clarke then got his second of the game the forward was played in through on goal and easily beat the keeper.

Whites then finished off the rout in the last 10 minutes with substitute Colson getting in on the action after great play on the left from Clarke.

Then, Waller-Lassen scored the sixth following a great pass form Colson, the forward scored with a composed finish past the keeper.

Boss Steve Claridge told JournalSport: “ I was really pleased second half, we played some really good stuff.”

“I thought Jesse was fantastic and Franklyn never stopped running.

“I think they [Amesbury] will feel a little bit hard done by I thought they played very well.”
