SALISBURY FC will travel to Southern League Division One West play-off hopefuls Bideford on Saturday, looking to continue their quest to secure the second automatic promotion spot.

The Whites are second in table with 66 points from 32 games, which puts them nine points ahead of new third placed side AFC Totton from two less games.

Wimborne Town are fourth with 56 points from 32 games, with Bristol Manor Farm one place back from the same amount of games.

Swindon Supermarine currently occupy the final play-off spot with 55 points from 33 game, with Bideford who are eighth, two points behind and with three games in hand and are looking to get into the shake-up.

When these sides meet in early December at the Ray Mac, the game was abandoned with the Whites leading 3-0 after a fight in the tunnel after a player from each side was sent-off.

Last Saturday, Salisbury drew 2-2 with league leaders Taunton Town, before a much changed side lost 2-1 in the Wiltshire Senior Cup semi-final against Highworth Town.

For the trip to Bideford, striker Owen Howe is still suspended as he completes his three match ban, while Luke Hopper and Aaron Dawson are both injured.

There are also doubts on Elliott Wheeler and Jake Wannell.

Manager Steve Claridge said: “This a big game for us and I think if we can win at Bideford and against Wimborne next week, we will be in a very good place.

"Bideford really need to win a draw is not really good enough. That was the same for us against Taunton on Saturday, when we were disappointed we did not win.

"That was the only way we were going to put any pressure on them.”

Salisbury have no midweek match next week, but do for the rest of April.
