SALISBURY CITY have snapped up midfield maestro Ricky Wellard on a month’s loan from Cambridge United.
The Conference Premier star completed the deal on Tuesday and is set to feature in the squad for Saturday’s first round FA Trophy tie against Maidstone United.
Wellard, 24, has experienced ten games for United this season, and also starred 28 times for League Two outfit AFC Wimbledon last season.
The London born midfielder launched his career at Ashford Town in 2005, where he spent four years.
Boss Darrell Clarke said: “We’re delighted to bring Ricky in on a month’s loan, he has bags of experience and gives us excellent options in midfield.
“Ricky played against us in the Blue Square Premier for AFC Wimbledon, and is exactly the sort of player we are after.
“I’d like to thank our board and Cambridge United for making the deal possible.”
