SALISBURY CITY completed the double over former boss Tommy Widdrington’s Eastbourne Borough and made it three wins on the trot.

Ricky Wellard finished his loan spell on a buoyant note, netting his first and last Salisbury goal, with a beauty after 10 minutes.

Then an exquisite half-volley from Chris McPhee, 11 minutes from time, put Salisbury firmly in control, which looked to have finished the job at Priory Lane.

But deep into stoppage time, City were denied a clean sheet as ex winger Chris Shephard crossed for Ollie Rowe who setup a mouthwatering finish.

A crucial block by Ugo Udoji foiled Shephard from grabbing an equaliser and Elliott Charles’ misguided header, ensured the visitors surged into a five point lead at the summit of Conference South.
