Luton Town 2-0 Salisbury City
SALISBURY City are yet to get off the mark in Skrill Conference Premier after crashing to back-to-back defeats, with their latest loss coming in Bedfordshire on Tuesday evening.
After a fairly even battle, with the visitors carving out enough chances to net their maiden Football Conference goal, they fell behind just after the hour mark, writes Joel Holt.
Substitute Andre Gray darted into the Salisbury penalty area and was tripped by James Clarke. The Hatters were awarded a penalty, which Solomon Taiwo converted, misdirecting Will Puddy.
The Whites brought on Warren Feeney to inject some more pace into attack in search of an equaliser. But as men were thrown forward, Salisbury were left short-changed at the back.
And with nine minutes remaining, Luke Guttridge headed home Dave Martin’s free kick to close the curtains on a potential fight back from the visitors.
Adding to Salisbury’s woes, midfielder Stuart Sinclair is doubtful for their match with Alfreton on Saturday (3pm) after picking up a knock.
“Stuart’s ankle is a bit sore following a late tackle but we’re hoping it’s nothing too serious,” said boss Mikey Harris.
