Lincoln City 0-1 Salisbury City
Lincoln City 0
CHRIS McPhee’s first half header sealed Salisbury City’s maiden away victory in Skrill Premier and wrecked Lincoln City’s 100 per cent record at the Sincil Bank.
The decisive moment, McPhee’s first goal of the new season, came six minutes before the break.
The former football league outfit were caught napping when McPhee sneaked across the far post and sunk Ben Wright’s inviting delivery into the bottom corner.
It could have been a tale of the visitors getting a hatful in the second half, having smacked the upright through Dan Fitchett and testing Paul Farman on a few occasions.
Danny Rowe was Lincoln’s biggest threat cutting inside a few times unleashing some fierce strikes, but they failed to hinder Will Puddy.
Jamie White, who missed pre-season because of a hernia operation, replaced workhorse Fitchett with 15 minutes to go, shortly after Callum Hart was stretchered off with a concerning injury.
It was a nerve-racking end for Salisbury as seven minutes of stoppage time were flashed but they held onto three points, which has scooted them into 14th.
Boss Mikey Harris said: “Picking up three points on the road, especially at Lincoln, is a great achievement.”
“The goal is something we’ve worked on at training and it delights me. The only disappointing thing out of the win is the injuries we’ve picked up and they will be assessed this week.”
