Henderson hits top form
PAUL Henderson is hitting form with two winners and the narrowest of runners-up from his last three runners.
Mount Vesuvius started the ball rolling by landing an £8,000 handicap hurdle when the Whitsbury trainer made the 630-mile round trip to Sedgefield, his first runner at the County Durham track.
Then Joe The Rogue scored the first win of his life – and the stable's fifth of the NH season – with an emphatic performance in a 3m2½f handicap chase at Fontwell Park. The six-year-old former Irish point-topointer was 19 lengths clear at the line.
Barely an hour before that success Chasers Chance – in his first outing since early May – was beaten a nose after finishing like a whirlwind under Tom O’Brien in the 2m6f handicap chase at the Sussex course giving 18lb to the winner.
Mount Vesuvius – winner of his last two hurdles inside a week – will now take a break but Joe The Rogue is booked for a 2m7f handicap chase at Stratford on Tuesday next week.
