Sarum Youth rescue valuable point
SARUM Youth under 14s missed an early penalty against Alderbury on Sunday, and that wastefulness looked to have cost them as they found themselves 4-0 down at the break.
They were a different team in the second half though, and a hat-trick by Liam Greenough and a Brad Williams goal saw them rescue an unlikely draw. Greenough even had another ruled out for handball. Man of the match was Jack Bennett.
The girls under 15s won 3-1 at Frome on Saturday. Two early goals from Lauren Baggot set them in the right direction, then the home team pulled one back before the break.
Rhea Andrews netted on her debut soon after the break, and after losing two players to injury and with no substitutes available, Sarum held on magnificently for the last 30 minutes. Player of the match was captain Leighana Atkinson.
Salisbury City’s Junior Premier League under 15s had a comfortable 9-0 win over Crofton Saints Panthers in the Hampshire Cup. Callum Appleby helped himself to a hat-trick, Billy Ward and Chae Sykes got two apiece, and Sam Knight and Bradlee Walton also registered.
Alderbury under 13s started the game at Clarendon with only nine players and couldn’t be faulted for effort in their 11-1 defeat. James Rooney finished well from Zoe Ridley’s excellent cross for their goal.
l Alderbury are looking for coaches and players for the new season, particularly a coach for the girls’ under 14s who play in the New Forest League. To be a part of a thriving club, contact Mike Rooney on 07846 562428 or Debbie Adlam on 07900 926002.
