Wanderers at peak of Saturday Premier Division
WANDERERS went to the top of the Saturday Premier Division with a 7-1 hammering of title rivals Alderbury.
Nick Newman was on top form, scoring a first-half hat trick, with Adam Jones also netting before the break. The second half was just as one sided, with chance after chance being created.
Newman got his fourth, then Tim Fewins produced a sweet finish after good work by substitute Ian Webber. Gaz Hooker had a penalty saved by Charlie Street, but Fewins slotted in the rebound. Alderbury managed an injury-time consolation.
Wanderers were played in their new kit, sponsored by The Body Lounge, Salisbury's exclusive personal training and beauty suite.
“It's great to be associated with The Body Lounge,” said Wanderers boss Liam McConnell.
“Owners Toby Giles, Jo Burt & David Ferris had no hesitation in working with us and we hope we can have a season to remember to repay them for the support we are no doubt going to gain.
“The Body Lounge is fast becoming one of Salisbury's most exciting businesses. Their range of treatments, fitness ideas and training are exceptional and we hope we can promote the business with success on the football pitch.”
The Body Lounge co-owner Toby Giles said: “We are delighted with the partnership.
“We see this as a great way of promoting our company. Obviously sport is a huge influence and factor in our success and to be able to get our name out in the local community through this channel is a positive step.
“We have been looking to work with a local football team since the summer, and The Wanderers were the ideal team.”

Nomansland & Landford played two exciting matches last week. They took a half-time lead at Alderbury on Wednesday, but two set pieces saw the home side pick up the points.
They then won a five-goal cracker against South Newton & Wishford on Saturday. The visitors were a goal up at the break, then came four goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half. Ryan Osman scored two in two minutes, the first a rebound and the second a low drive into the corner from the edge of the box.
Newton replied immediately with a halfway-line drive from the kick off, but Dan Hayward pounced on a mistake to roll home the winner. Both teams threw everything into the last half hour, but despite near misses in abundance the score remained at 3-2 to Nomansland.
In Division One, Durrington WMC maintained their 100 per cent record with a 6-0 win over South Newton reserves (pictured). Jon Lane grabbed two of the goals.
Amesbury Kings Arms won 2-1 at last season's unbeaten champions Stockton & Codford reserves. Martin Luke headed them into a well-deserved 20th-minute lead, and Jake Minnitt doubled it just before half time with a superb volley from the edge of the box. Stockton pulled one back early in the second half.
Deacon Alms beat Enford 3-0. Josh Fryer opened the scoring in the second half with a left foot shot from distance, and he doubled the lead with ten minutes to go, scooping home from a low corner. Dan Gevaux broke clear and delicately lobbed the goalkeeper late on.
