Heath lose out by one-goal to Winchester
BEMERTON Heath Harlequins slipped to a third straight defeat as Winchester City escaped from Western Way with all three points on Saturday, writes RYAN LOVEJOY.
Chris Mason's 25-yard strike in the first half proved enough for the visitors, who have only only lost once so far.
“We had four or five chances before their goal, and many throughout the game,” said manager Ian Chalk, picturd below.
“Kane O’Keefe had four fantastic headed chances, including one when he headed over an open goal from two yards out. He played really, really well but the finishing wasn't there.
“Jack Slade had a chance near the end, and Joe Sanger missed a couple too. We are shooting ourselves in the foot a bit at the moment. Their goal came because we gave away possession on the edge of our box.
“We have good individuals but we aren't a team yet, and it was always going to take time.”
It doesn’t get any easier as Bemerton travel to the Isle of Wight to take on Newport on Saturday, and also travel to Moneyfields next Tuesday.
“It’s always a tough game at Newport but we have the quality to win the game,” said Chalk.
