Triumph for Stingrays in championships
SALISBURY Stingrays triumphed in the Wiltshire County Masters Championships on Saturday.
They went into the third and final round with a 50-point lead and had home advantage for the league finale.
The Stingrays’ women had many shining stars with Lorna Harding, Lesley Maynard, Liz Latter and Collette Fear all taking home a 100 per cent individual record from their respective age groups. However, it was Julia Kemp who shone the brightest as she broke five county records (four individual and one relay) along with claiming five gold medals.
For the men, Phil Muspratt won his four individual races, collecting two big personal bests along the way. He also picked up two golds from his relay outings. Rob Langan took home five silvers from his five races.
The top performance from the men came from David Bryant, who secured five individual golds along with four county records.
He also collected two golds from his two relay exertions, one of which resulted in a county record with Muspratt, Kelly Steenkamp and Kemp joining him on that outing. Salisbury rounded off a fantastic evening by winning a six-man relay event to win the Head Cup, claiming the title back from Swindon Dolphins by 434.5 points to 243.
