Amesbury father is crowned powerlifting champion
AMESBURY-based Nathan Bage was crowned a world junior powerlifting champion in Hungary last month.
The 21-year-old has only been competing for a matter of months, but his inexperience had no impact on his performance in the World Powerlifting Championships as he secured first place in the 67.5kg category and broke four European records.
His showing against more than 600 lifters from across 29 countries, earned him third place overall against all of the juniors.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to all my friends and family, and sponsors for supporting me,”
said the father-of-one.
Bage qualified for the European event after having a successful time at Salisbury Powerlifting Championships in March – coming first in the under 90kg category, winning his class in the 67.5kg category and breaking four British records.
