Cadets return with five medals
SALISBURY Sea Cadets returned from the National Combined Regatta at the Royal Victoria Dock in London with five medals.
Three of those medals were gold.
They went to the open girls rowing team (12 to 18 years), pictured right, who won all three of their races, as did the junior boys rowing team (12 to 15 years).
The open boys single yole (12 to 18 years) also secured gold, thanks to petty officer cadet Louis Patterson, who won every race.
The rowing boat handling team won silver, and the open boys rowing team (12 to 18 years) got bronze, having won one race and finished second in the other two. Salisbury also won best overall for all categories – yoles, rowing, boat handling and overall regatta.
They all had to win their southern area competitions against seven opponents to get there, having won the Wessex district beforehand against ten opponents.
There are 68 Sea Cadet Units in total in the southern area and six areas in the UK, with a total of 410 Units.
