TWO hundred members took to the cold and played 18 holes as part of Tidworth Garrison Golf Club’s Captain’s Challenge.
The challenge was held in the form of a Stableford competition and players were asked to surpass the challenging score set by captain Brian Hutchins, pictured, and his team.
Although Hutchins’ team scores were plausible, with vice captain Mike Cripps posting a very respectable 37 points, only three members – Jim Dempsie (41), Steve Walmesley (39) and Bhumiraj Rai (39) – were able to exceed.
PRIZE-WINNER Kevin Farrant scooped several awards at Rushmore’s Golf Club presentation evening.
The awards include Rushmore Presidents Cup, the Bennett Arms Trophy and the men’s Fourball Trophy – which he collected with partner Nigel Long.
But Chris Cullington defeated Farrant in the final of the Scratch Singles to prevent a clean sweep.
Elsewhere, Alan Booth took the Senior Section Singles title, while mixed specialist Steve Reid won two of the three main mixed trophies with Andrea Cheverton and Jaqui Pethen respectively.
Ladies section club champion was Sarah Cheverton. Belinda Stow won the Scratch Singles with ladies captain Gill Cronin receiving the Ladies Order of Merit and most improved golfer titles.
