BUDDING Salisbury footballer Jake Burgess is a step closer to winning a dream professional contract with Leyton Orient, Swindon Town or Wycombe Wanderers.
Midfielder Jake, 16, from Whiteparish, is one of 88 players who have progressed into the semi-final stages of Samsung’s nationwide Win A Pro Contract competition, which attracted 5,700 entrants.
He said: “I’m so excited about the opportunity that I have been given and I feel proud of myself.
“Since the regional trials I have been playing and enjoying my football both at college and AFC Totton, working hard and keeping myself fit.”
Jake will compete in an 11-a-side match against fellow amateur hopefuls at Wycombe Wanderers’ Adams Park on Sunday, December 8.
