UNBEATEN Fordingbridge Town under 16s continued their incredible start to the season with a hard-fought victory over a much-improved Alderbury side.

Alderbury opened the scoring after eight minutes before Fordingbridge equalised through Callum Brown’s first goal in seven years with a 20- yard shot that deceived the Alderbury shot-stopper.

Oscar Rutherford-Steggall gave the home side a 2-1 lead after the break and Stuart Melbourne made it 3-1 soon after. Alderbury pulled one back before Melbourne scored again to make it 4-2 and the game looked to be over.

However, Alderbury pulled one back with a stunning 30- yard pile-driver that hit the bar and trickled over the line.

The game was on a knife edge at this point before Melbourne popped up again in injury time to complete his hat-trick and see Fordingbridge home 5-3.

In the Testway League First Division, South Newton & Wishford under 16s inflicted Sarum Youth’s first defeat of the season.

Just before half-time Will Hooper pounced on the home keeper’s error to make it 3-0.

As expected, Sarum came out in the second half to try and turn the game around and managed an early goal, but the organised visitors held firm for a 3-1 triumph.
