UNBEATEN Fordingbridge Town under 16s continued their incredible start to the season with a hard-fought victory over a much-improved Alderbury side.

Alderbury opened the scoring after eight minutes before Fordingbridge equalised through Callum Brown’s first goal in seven years with a 20- yard shot that deceived the Alderbury shot-stopper.

Oscar Rutherford-Steggall gave the home side a 2-1 lead after the break and Stuart Melbourne made it 3-1 soon after. Alderbury pulled one back before Melbourne scored again to make it 4-2 and the game looked to be over.

However, Alderbury pulled one back with a stunning 30- yard pile-driver that hit the bar and trickled over the line.

The game was on a knife edge at this point before Melbourne popped up again in injury time to complete his hat-trick and see Fordingbridge home 5-3.

In the Testway League First Division, South Newton & Wishford under 16s inflicted Sarum Youth’s first defeat of the season.

A deflected header gave Newton the lead after 20 minutes and, after the leagueleaders had been denied twice by the woodwork, Calum Seamen put away Adam Harris’ corner to give them a two-goal lead.

Just before half-time Will Hooper pounced on the home keeper’s error to make it 3-0.

As expected, Sarum came out in the second half to try and turn the game around and managed an early goal, but the organised visitors held firm for a 3-1 triumph.

South Newton under 15s recorded a narrow 3-2 win at home to Overton in the Testway League Division 2 clash at Stoford Rec on Saturday.

Jamie Cooper’s hat-trick helped Sarum Youth under- 11s take a one-point lead at the top of South Wilts League after beating Durrington Rangers under 11s 4-2. Dylan Fulford was also on target for the hosts.

Sarum girls under 13s were also having a goal rush as Lily Wither’s four efforts and Chloe Podger’s one completed a convincing 5-1 victory over Frome Town in the Wiltshire County Women’s and Girls League.

West Harnham under 12s enjoyed a comfortable 7-0 win at home to Tidworth Tigers in their latest Testway League game.

The goals arrived from Dan Scott (2), Josh Buxcey (2), Dan Poynting, Louis Smith and Ed Stagg.

Alderbury under 13s had a good 3-0 win against Chippenham Town. A goal for Ryan Payne and a brace from Harry Schneider sealed the win.
