AFTER going two months without a win, Salisbury are suddenly celebrating consecutive six-goal Hampshire/Surrey Regional Division 2 wins.

They followed up a 6-3 mauling of Sunbury & Walton Hawks with an equally impressive 6-2 victory at Haslemere, writes Mike Vimpany.

Australia-bound James Hayward, pictured right, and Tom Morton each scored twice for Salisbury, who were 4-1 up at halftime.

Morton opened Salisbury’s account with Rory McTaggart, the architect of the first goal, also laying on a second for Ollie Budniak.

Morton grabbed a third before Haslemere got back into the game.

That goal proved a false dawn for the Surrey club as Hayward’s reverse-stick was guided in at the far post by Mike Draper to give the visitors a 4-1 interval lead.

Within ten seconds of the second half restart Haslemere trimmed the deficit to 4-2, but two clinically executed strikes by Hayward completed the scoring.

Hayward, who flies to Australia today to support England’s ailing Ashes campaign at the MCG, latched on to McTaggart’s pass to score the fifth and then reverse-sticked a sixth after Dan Dines had lobbed a perfect aerial pass into the Haslemere D.
