Sweet successive victories for Alderbury

DOUBLE victories from Alderbury have given them a welcome Christmas boost in Salisbury and District (Saturday) Premier Division after overcoming title-contenders Durrington Dynamoes 3-2 at the Recreation Ground.

In a game played in fine spirit, it was the hosts who edged the five-goal thriller as the new year fast approaches. Despite defeat, third-placed Dynamoes remain two points ahead of Alderbury back in fifth spot.

Sandwiched between the pair is Porton Sports, who showed great character to peg back Nomansland and Landford’s two-goal cushion on Saturday.

Dan Hayward’s brace made life difficult for the hosts, but after slotting one home before the break, they levelled soon into the second period to make it 2-2.

Then a long-range effort, churning through the wind, was enough to steer the points in Porton’s direction and leave Nomansland fighting for survival.

South Newton and Wishford had no league fixture as they were busy battling it out with Whiteparish for a place in the Morrison Cup semi final.

The Premier Division outfit trailed on a slippery away pitch but soon found themselves on level terms through reliable Rich Tutton.

Tutton went close again for the Blues in search of a cup brace, but the visitors got a goal from Adam Paynes, which transpired to be the golden ticket to the semis and face Stockton & Codford, fresh from a 1-0 win over basement boys Devizes Inn in the league.

In Salisbury District Division One, Amesbury Kings Arms gave an impressive performance to win 3-0 away at South Newton Reserves. Goals came from Nick Voce, Danny Goodall and Michael Harrop- Williams.
