ADAPTABLE Ryan Brett admits his recent shift to central midfield for Salisbury City is his preferred position and hopes the last two showings will pay dividends over the festive period.

Brett, a natural leftback, has covered injuries during the Whites’ matches with Macclesfield Town and Southport in a playmaking role, and he wants to stay there.

“I’ve enjoyed playing in central midfield as it’s my favourite position,” he said.

“I need to keep my head down as I’ve been doing. I haven’t played as many games as I wanted in Skrill Premier but hopefully my performances have re-paid the manager for picking me.

“I tried my best on Saturday and if that’s good enough for Mikey then he’ll pick me again.

Full of confidence from Saturday’s goal, his first in the Skrill Premier, Brett is focused on keeping a clear head over Christmas and making “sacrifices”.

“As a footballer you have to look after yourself over Christmas.”

“If you make the best sacrifices, you will get the best results on the pitch. If you go out, then you won’t play well at all.

“You can’t get sucked in to partying.

You must keep your head down as you’ve got a job to do. There are a lot of games coming up and I’m just looking forward to it.”

  • Argentinian midfielder Agustin Battipiedi has signed for Salisbury on a noncontract basis. The 20- year-old spent time with Brighton & Hove Albion and Conference South outfit Dover Athletic before joining the Ray Mac.
