HONEST Salisbury City boss Mikey Harris is fully aware of the exciting opportunities the January transfer market offers but is in no rush to adjust his successful squad.

The shopping window is set to be used at full capacity by many clubs across the country, including sides with sizeable budgets in the non-league scene.

But the City leader remains levelheaded on what the Old Sarum club can realistically spend over the next few weeks.

“We’ll see what’s available,” Harris stated.

“Obviously there are a few players I’ve got my eye on but whether we’ll be able to bring them in remains to be seen. It’s important we’re sensible in terms of our budget and if we are bringing players in, then there maybe need for movement out.

“We’ll assess the situation and look to improve the squad if we need to. But, as I said in my programme notes on Saturday, I don’t believe wholesale changes are necessary.

“Everyone can see we have a squad here that works hard and is achieving a relative amount of success. For me it’s about subtle improvements here and there.”

One of the wealthiest clubs in the division, likely to be splashing out, is Forest Green Rovers, City’s opponents today (3pm), pending a pitch inspection at 9.30am.

They will head to Gloucestershire on the back of some impressive results and with more players set to return from injury.

The 29-year-old added: “It’s going to be a very difficult game.”

“They’ve got a quality squad of players and their manager has an abundance of options available.

“It’s a game we’ll look forward to as the rivalry between the two clubs is well documented and hopefully we can pick up a positive result.”

The meeting in November was a horror show for City, who were hammered 4-1 on the night, with England C striker James Norwood pulling the strings.

And Norwood, with ten goals to his name, is a player Harris knows his team will have to deal with.

“He’s a dangerous player on his day and one we know plenty about. We’ll certainly have to keep him quiet if we want to be successful.”

Potentially making their Forest debuts today are Crystal Palace loanee Jerome Binnom-Williams and veteran striker Lee Hughes.
