AMESBURY Town were prohibited from earning back-to-back victories after Monday night’s game with Team Solent fell foul to the weather.

Planning to build on Saturday’s 1-2 victory at New Milton, their first game in more than a month, Monday’s game was eliminated from the equation due to a pitch inspection failing.

But, in hindsight, the rest may positively affect Town, who travelled to the Forest without eight senior players and had striker Tom Western slipping on the gloves as keeper Danny Harrison picked up an arm injury inside 15 minutes.

They still managed to shape up well in the Forest, with the help of new assistant boss Al Jordan paying dividends in Sydenhams Division One.

And goals either side of the break from Richard Proctor and Nathan Barnett completed victory despite Jemal Rose’s 85th minute consolation.

Derby day comes to Bonnymead Park on Saturday as Ringwood Town visit (3pm).

Laverstock and Ford’s relentless wait for a game this year rolls on. Heavy rain battering the Dell led to postponements of Stockbridge and Pewsey Vale. If their pitch survives the weather on Saturday, they’ll take on Fleet Spurs (3pm).
