ATTACKING ace Rob Sinclair says the recent game drought has aided his recovery process and he’s gunning to make an “impact” in Salisbury City’s play-off quest.

Sinclair picked up a groin injury in early September away at Lincoln City after helping City secure their maiden away win seven games into the Skrill Premier.

Now, having played more than 20 minutes in City’s last three matches against Kidderminster Harriers, Dartford and Hereford United, he’s now within touching distance of getting 90 minutes under his belt.

“I’ve had a few injury problems and had to look after myself in the week, training and having ice baths. It’s a long process but I’m glad to be back out on the pitch,” said Sinclair, who’s been back at the Wiltshire side for almost a year.

“The game at Lincoln was very frustrating because I felt I had a good game. Then, in the 96th minute, I tore my groin. Five weeks into the injury I thought I was going to come back but then I had another little hiccup, which delayed the process.

“But I’m really happy to be back now. I feel sharp and fit, which is a massive plus.

“The games being cancelled over the festive period have been a bonus for me, to be honest.”

“During that time I’ve been able to get in more training sessions, which has helped my recovery. Although the lads have been frustrated, it’s been perfect for me as I haven’t missed many games.”

Sinclair usually plays in an attacking midfield role, partnering well with his look-alike brother Stuart, and is targeting more goals in his new flash boots.

The 24-year-old added: “I like the attacking side of the game and I try to make a difference as I want people to recognise me, that’s what I go on the pitch to do. I want to have an impact on the match.

“I’ll do the hard work but my main objective is to impress going forward, create chances and score goals. Mikey’s been brilliant, not rushing me back into the squad, which some managers would have done. I’m not far away from starting but I don’t want to be over careful as I want to start and tell Mikey I’m 100 per cent ready.”
