BEMERTON Heath Harlequins and Laverstock & Ford were both hoping to entertain sides from the Isle of Wight on Saturday.

However, while the conditions alone put paid to all but one of the fixtures in the weather-ravaged Sydenhams League, Newport and Cowes Sports could add ferry difficulties to the reasons their games were postponed.

Amesbury Town were due to travel to Petersfield Town but that game was also off.

Bemerton also had a fixture at Brockenhurst postponed last Wednesday.

Heath go to Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday, when Lavvy are away to Hayling United before they then head to Hythe & Dibden on Tuesday. The Blues have two home games coming up, against Tadley Calleva on Saturday and Andover New Street on Wednesday.

Bemerton picked up a hugely impressive 4-0 win at Whitchurch United on Tuesday, with goals from Jack Slade, Joe Sanger, T.J.

Moseley and Seb Dawes.

"We were fantastic,” said manager Ian Chalk.

“We are using the rest of the season to experiment and try youngsters. Tyler Brockway, Russell Jones, T.J.

Moseley and Jack Waters were all involved and played really well.

“The future looks good at the moment and financially we have to look closer to home.”

Laverstock's game at Andover New Street was off, meaning they have not played since January 25.
