TOM Chalk’s brace helped Durrington Dynamoes drive clear from rock-bottom South Newton and Wishford and into third place in Salisbury and District (Saturday) Premier League.

A strike from Chalk inside the first 12 seconds got his side off to a flyer before doubling his tally by the 22nd minute.

Early into the second half, after Shrewton missed the chance to stamp a goal back from the spot, Craig Stevens tripled his side’s lead.

With the points looking sealed, Newton set-up a nerve-racking ending as Martin Tutton’s free-kick and a second penalty, this time despatched, made it 3-2.

And the downwards visitors thought they had poached an equaliser but were denied a point when their goal was ruled out for offside.

Table-topping The Wanderers widened the leading gap to four points after smacking Nomansland 6-1 and boosting their title quest.

Playing for the first time in three weeks clearly showed in a sluggish start as they went behind in six minutes.

The visitors didn’t wake up until the half hour mark and Adam Jones levelled with a dipping drive.

There was no looking back after that as quickly Jones turned provider for Steph Tinkler who fired a pile-driver into the roof of the net.

Hooker added a third to end the first half 3-1. They settled the outcome with another trio of goals.

In Salisbury and District 1st Division, Stockton and Codford Reserves suffered a shock defeat from bottom side South Newton & Wishford Reserves.

South Newton’s second victory of the campaign came in the form of 2-1 after an unhelpful eight week break due to waterlogged pitches.

Luke Denton and Kirk Chalk put the visitors two ahead but let their clean sheet slip through their fingers in the final ten minutes.
