A LONG journey to north Bristol was a fruitful trip for Shrewton under 14s who departed with three points in North Wilts League.

The visitors began the game well and took the lead just after seven minutes when an excellent through ball from Gavin Martin found leading scorer Jacob Slater who made no mistake in putting the visitors’ ahead. And three minutes later, Shrewton were two up, a great run by Brennan Knowles set up Slater for a double.

However, the home side refused to lie down and within ten minutes they scored twice to level things up with the Shrewton defence guilty of a lapse in concentration.

But just before the break a 35 yard free kick from Jake Watson provided the killer edge to seal a 3-2 win after a goalless second half.

Fordingbridge town pegged back West Harnham under 12s’ two goal lead to earn a precious point in a tightlyfought Testway League encounter.

The derby, in which both sides boast players from Burgate School, Louis Smith and Archie Tomes, getting his maiden goal of the campaign, gave Harnham a comfortable first half cushion.

But credit to Town, a terrific fightback saw them draw level to share the spoils.

Ryan Street’s two goals sent Sarum Youth under 11s enroute to a six nil rout over Amesbury Stonehenge.

Aiden Mann, Ejay Smith, Jamie Cooper and Jayden Stoakes shared the other four goals on Sunday.
