ANY hopes of Durrington WMC winning the Salisbury and District (Saturday) Division One title were dashed by a 2-1 home defeat to Deacon Alms.

Seventh positioned Deacons rebounded from six straight defeats to claim a welldeserved victory at Durrington.

It was the Deacons’ final game of the season, and they raced into an early two goal lead thanks to an acrobatic volley from Dan Gevaux and a superb team goal, which was finished off by Matt Wyeth's lob. The hosts pushed hard to get back in the game, but their first half penalty miss proved crucial.

Lowly South Newton booked their spot in the Premier Cup Semi Final with a well-rounded display at Stockton & Codford.

An own goal and one from Tom Aldridge put Newton in the driving seat until Stockton levelled it up.

But a storming second half confirmed a 2-4 cup victory and a next round tie with Devizes Inn after Keith Darling’s bullet volley and a second from Aldridge.

In the only league match in the Premier Division, Si Roberts netted a 93rd minute equaliser to earn Porton a one all draw with Tisbury United.

Huntsman Tavern recorded a 5-2 victory over Royal George in Salisbury and District Sunday Division Two.
