INCONSISTENT Laverstock and Ford took two steps forward on Saturday and five back in the week.
Rob Gallagher and Kieran Edwards got the goals in the 2- 0 home victory over East Cowes Victoria, but didn’t take the points in their stride when Petersfield Town handed out a 2-5 thumping.
Speaking to the Journal after Saturday’s game, Robbie Lakeman said: “It may not have been our best performance of the season but it was easily our most dominant.”
“Our defence was solid and we looked dangerous every time we went forward.
“At half time we could of come out and tried to force the issue but we remained patient and carried on playing our football. That shows, although, we are a young side we do have the mentality and maturity to win games by keeping calm and not panicking when we are on top but not scoring goals.”
Ryan Jones, Alan Jordan and Sam Matthews struck in Amesbury Town’s 4-3 defeat at Cowes Sports. Their next game isn’t until Wednesday night when Team Solent visit Bonneymead Park (7.45pm).
