AFC Amesbury Athletic are the new champions of The Pete Fardell Cup after beating Laverstock & Ford in a nerve-jangling penalty shootout 5-3.

At a wet Wick Lane, a late Lavvy equaliser forced extra time and they looked odds on to be crowned champions after steering themselves in front in the additional 30 minutes, until Amesbury forced a dreaded shootout with a last-gasp leveller.

Amesbury Kings Arms are gearing up for the Charity B Cup Final at Downton’s Wick Lane on Good Friday (11am).

Standing in their way of becoming champions is Chalke Valley, having earned their final slot with a 3-2 victory over Enford at the weekend.

In Salisbury and District (Saturday) Premier Division, The Wanderers are one victory away from sealing the title, but they won’t know their fate until May 3 when they host Porton Sports on the final day of the campaign.

Sunday Division Two leaguers Huntsman Tavern won away at Whiteparish 3-2 to stay away from the trapped door.
