RICHARD Boyland capped his new role as South Wilts Golf Club captain with a traditional drive in.
The new club skipper was appointed at the AGM on March 28 for the year of 2014/15 and to mark the occasion more than 180 contestants took part in the notorious tournament.
Coming home in first place, with 113 points, was the team of Ron Pretty, Ken Baker, Nick Thorne and Hugh Chesters.
“I’m very thankful for everyone’s support, which help make the drive in very successful,” said Boyland, whose event raised more than £1,000 for his chosen charity Hope and Homes for Children.
“It’s an honour to be captain of such a wonderful club, and I’m excited for the challenges ahead.”
Also stepping onto the committee is Magic Carpets manager Steve Dumbleton as vice captain, Chris White as president and David Spaven as immediate post captain.
