SARUM Youth Seniors had to face the league elect-champions twice in three days away from home and put in two excellent performances.
Despite a 2-0 defeat to a strong and experienced Melksham Town Reserves on Saturday, they bounced back three days later to spoil the hosts’ promotion party with a 1-2 victory.
Frankie Kerry and Archie Lovegrove’s 30th goal put manager Dave Rawkins in good spirits.
“To play Melksham twice in three days was a tough ask for these young boys but they were absolutely magnificent,” he said.
“We played well on Saturday, but Monday’s win was awesome. Their effort, attitude and desire were first-class and showed how far they have come as individuals and a team.”
