THE glorious sunshine was put to good use by 150 members at South Wilts Golf Club on Good Friday.
The well-contested captain’s charity strings event involved novel members using six inches of string for each stroke of the combined handicaps and used accordingly.
Mixed pair Roger Priddle and Jo Terry clinched the unorthodox tournament with 43 points. With 41 points behind in second was John Quartley and Tim Bennett followed by Tom and Sam Elkins in third (40), Mark Taylor and Peirce Waddington in fourth (39) and fifth-place filled by David Waterman and Richard Juett (39).
Captain Richard Boyland commented: “It was great fun and I’d like to thank all the members for their magnificent support, helping raise £980 for charity Hope and Homes for Children."
