CITY of Salisbury’s Stuart Holloway marked up a good win at the Fordingbridge 10k in which he showed no sign of any slowing after his hard run in the London Marathon last month.

Using this local event as preparation for the next crucial round on Sunday of the Hampshire road race league series, he clocked a time of 34min 11sec.

His father Mel also ran well to clock 45.47 and was followed by Liz Roberts with 48.58, Andy Robbins 50.57 and Ali Restall 51.01.

This weekend sees the hilly Alton 10mile at which a sizeable contingent of the club’s runners will face the starter. With this and two other still fixtures to come, reigning men’s league champions Salisbury have Holloway in third place overall, Chris Southern sixth and Ben Brewster eighth. Salisbury ladies’ team are currently in second place behind Winchester, with Katie West fourth overall and Faye Parker fifth.

É In tough conditions over the Marlborough Downs, ultra-running specialist Phil Smith stuck to his task in the 35mile multi-terrain event to finish in a highly creditable 6hours 21mins.
