Mynott engineers high-scoring win for South Wilts

Salisbury Journal: Mynott engineers high-scoring win for South Wilts Mynott engineers high-scoring win for South Wilts

JACK Mynott was the inspiration behind South Wilts’ 80-run victory over Parley – a win that gives the Salisbury club a third round home tie in the ECB Royal London National Club Championship.

The teenager held the South Wilts innings together in the second round in difficult conditions – the visitors lurching to 69-4 after 18 overs and later 101-6.

But Mynott, who spent the past winter in Melbourne, steadied the ship before eventually being dismissed for 73 with the SW score at 155.

Jack Sheppard hit two huge sixes before Steve Kidd scored an invaluable 25 to lift the South Wilts score to 190.

The total proved far beyond Parley’s reach – the Dorset Premier League champions stumbling to 32-4 and eventually 110 all out.

Three-wicket Rob Pittman and Kidd, with two victims, were ideal for the conditions while young Jack Richards cleaned up the tail with three more wickets.

South Wilts face either New Milton or Sarisbury Athletic at Bemerton in the third round on Sunday, June 1.

The two Hampshire clubs will have a second attempt to play their rain-delayed second round tie at Fernhill on Sunday.
