CLUBMATES from LA Fitness had a trip to remember in Hull for the British Open Squash Championships.
Barry Featherstone won the over 65 title, reinforcing his British Closed victory in February this year. He sailed through the first three rounds before meeting Aubrey Waddy, the number two seed in the final. He won a hardfought 45 minute battle 9-6 9-7 9-10 9-6 to take the title.
Then Clive Ewins, former number one string for the LA first team, won the over 40 event after beating Sweden’s Freddie Johnson in the final.
Stuart Hardy almost made it a treble crown for LA Fitness until narrowly losing to number one seed Peter Alexander in the over 60s.
Hardy and Featherstone, who received the 2014 Masters Player of the Year Award, recently represented England in the Home Internationals.
